Preparing for your family photoshoot
A family photoshoot is a chance to slow down, spend time together and capture this chapter as it really feels. My sessions are relaxed and enjoyable, with a focus on natural moments rather than forced poses.
Every family session is planned around you. I only photograph one family per day, which means there is no rushing and no pressure. You can arrive knowing you have time to settle in, relax and enjoy the experience.
After your session, you will view a beautiful gallery of images that reflect your family honestly and naturally. These are photographs designed to be lived with and enjoyed for years to come.
What to wear
Wear outfits you feel comfortable and confident in. Timeless, neutral colours photograph beautifully and keep the focus on connection rather than clothing. Many families choose simple combinations such as denim with white, cream or black.

Bringing pets
Pets are very welcome. If your dog or other furry family member is part of your story, they are always encouraged to join in.
How to prepare
If your session is outdoors, choose a location that feels meaningful or relaxed for your family. If we are in the studio, everything will be ready for you when you arrive.
If there are any specific images you would love, or if anyone in your family has particular needs, just let me know in advance. I will always adapt the session to suit you and keep things calm and enjoyable.
I will guide you gently throughout, so you never need to worry about what to do. The aim is simple, natural photographs that feel like you and capture your family just as they are right now.

Family photoshoots in Bristol and Portishead
My photography studio is based in Portishead, with easy access to a range of beautiful outdoor locations across Bristol. This gives you the choice of a calm studio session or a natural outdoor photoshoot, depending on what suits your family best.
Outdoor family sessions take place in well-loved locations including coastal spots around Portishead, woodland areas such as Leigh Woods and Ashton Court, and green spaces like Arnos Vale, Oldbury Court and Kings Weston House. These locations provide a relaxed backdrop where children can move freely and families can spend time together without feeling posed.
Seasonal sessions are available throughout the year. Spring and early summer are perfect for bluebell woods, while autumn and winter bring softer light and quieter locations.
Confetti fields and other seasonal settings are offered at selected times for families looking for something a little different.
Around one week after your session, you will be invited back to the studio for your viewing appointment. Your fully edited gallery will be presented on a large screen, giving you time to choose the photographs you love most and decide how you would like to enjoy them in your home.

Your booking fee reserves your familly session and the time set aside just for you. It covers the photoshoot itself, use of the studio wardrobe if applicable, gentle guidance throughout and the careful editing of your images.
Image collections are chosen separately after your session, once you have seen your finished gallery. The booking fee is not deducted from your chosen collection.
