Adobe Photoshop training in Bristol for photographers working in fine art and compositing

Once you’re confident with your camera, editing is where your images truly come to life. Adobe Photoshop is a powerful creative tool, but it can feel overwhelming without the right guidance.

My Photoshop training is designed for photographers who want to move beyond basic adjustments and develop confident, intentional edits. I focus on fine art techniques, clean retouching, and creative compositing, helping you understand not just how to do something, but why it works.

Lessons are tailored entirely to you and your work. Training is available online via Zoom, making it accessible wherever you’re based, or in person in Bristol for one-to-one sessions. I also run occasional group workshops, which are announced through my Facebook page.

The aim of every session is to help you edit with clarity and confidence, develop your own creative style, and produce finished artwork you’re genuinely proud of. Below are a few examples of the kind of work you can achieve.

Pricing

• Online Photoshop lessons (hourly) – £65
• Full-day one-to-one Photoshop training in person – £395

I offer Photoshop training in Bristol and 1-2-1 online mentoring worldwide.

Not everything has to be done the hard way.

If you’re short on time or just want help with tricky edits, I also offer professional outsource editing for photographers.

How the lessons work

Lessons are offered as one-to-one sessions, either online via screen sharing or in person by arrangement.

You’ll work on real images, either yours or example files, and I’ll talk you through each step clearly so you understand why you’re doing something, not just which buttons to press.

You’re welcome to ask questions, take notes, and go at a pace that feels comfortable. There’s no rushing and no pressure.

You can also explore my professional photo editing services if you’d prefer to hand the editing over completely.

Who these lessons are for

These Photoshop lessons are ideal for:

  • Photographers who feel stuck or overwhelmed by editing

  • Beginners wanting to understand Photoshop properly

  • Intermediate photographers looking to refine their style

  • Creatives interested in compositing and digital backgrounds

  • Anyone who wants to speed up their workflow and edit with confidence

You don’t need to be “good at Photoshop” to start. You just need the willingness to learn.

What we can cover

Each lesson is personalised, but common topics include:

  • Understanding Photoshop layers, masks, and tools

  • Clean, natural skin retouching

  • Colour correction and creative colour grading

  • Background swaps and digital compositing

  • Working with light, shadows, and realism

  • Editing workflows that save time

  • Creating consistent edits across a gallery

  • Preparing images for print and online use

If there’s something specific you want to learn, we’ll build the session around that.

Why learn with me

I’m not just teaching theory. I use Photoshop every single day in my own professional photography work, from natural portrait retouching to fine-art edits and complex, hand-built digital composites.

Everything I teach is based on real editing scenarios, practical problem-solving, and techniques I actually use for paying clients, not generic shortcuts pulled from YouTube.

Whether you want to master creative compositing or simply feel more confident with everyday edits, I can help. That includes things like head swaps, backdrop extensions, colour changes to clothing, tidy retouching, and polishing family or portrait images so they truly feel finished.

My aim is that you leave the session feeling clearer, more confident, and genuinely excited to sit back down and edit again.

Photoshop for Beginners

New to Photoshop? Start from the very beginning

If Photoshop feels overwhelming or you’re not even sure where to start, you’re not alone. Many people come to me having opened Photoshop once… and immediately closed it again.

This beginner-friendly training is designed to start from scratch, at a calm and supportive pace. No jargon, no pressure, and absolutely no assumption that you already know what you’re doing.

We’ll cover the foundations first, including:

  • Understanding the Photoshop workspace and tools

  • Layers, masks, and why they matter

  • Simple selections and tidy cut-outs

  • Basic retouching and clean-up

  • Adjusting light, colour, and tone

  • How to save and export images properly

As your confidence grows, we can move into practical everyday edits such as head swaps, extending backdrops, changing colours, or gently improving portraits and family photos.

There’s no “one-size-fits-all” lesson plan. Sessions are tailored to what you want to learn, at a pace that feels comfortable, so you leave feeling capable rather than confused.

Whether you’re a photographer, a creative hobbyist, or simply want to understand Photoshop properly for the first time, this is a safe, supportive place to begin.
