Natural, studio pet photography in Bristol for dogs and other beloved pets
Our pets are part of the family, and their personalities deserve to be photographed properly.
My pet photography sessions in Bristol are relaxed, studio-based experiences designed to create timeless portraits of your dog or pet without stress or forced posing.
Whether you’d love a classic studio portrait, something playful, or a calm, soulful image that really reflects their character, I work at your pet’s pace and photograph them as they are.
I genuinely love photographing animals and capturing the small expressions and quirks that make them unique. They deserve a place on your walls alongside the rest of the family.
Dog photography sessions take place at my Portishead studio near Bristol. The atmosphere is calm and fun, with time for ball throwing, treat catching and gentle guidance so your dog feels comfortable in front of the camera. While dogs are my speciality, I’m very happy to photograph other pets too. Just get in touch and we can talk it through.
Some of my favourite sessions are playful dog portraits where personality really shines through. From silly expressions to quiet, thoughtful moments, the aim is always the same. Images you’ll love for years to come.
All pet photography sessions take place at my Portishead studio, just outside Bristol, in a calm and controlled environment that works beautifully for animals. A studio setting allows me to focus on lighting, expression and detail without unnecessary distractions.
Sessions are unhurried and led entirely by your pet. Some settle quickly, others take a little time. That’s completely fine. There’s space for sniffing, breaks, reassurance and the occasional treat so they feel comfortable and safe.
Dogs are the most common visitors to the studio, but I’m very happy to photograph other pets too. If you’re unsure whether a studio session would suit your animal, just get in touch and we can talk it through.
You’re very welcome to be included in the photographs with your pet. After all, they’re part of your family.
Most sessions take place in the studio, but outdoor portraits can also be arranged if you’d prefer something more natural. Whether playful and full of energy or calm and soulful, the aim is always the same. Honest portraits that reflect their personality and feel worthy of a place in your home.
I have everything on hand to keep the experience enjoyable, from a bit of ball throwing to well-timed treats. The focus is always on capturing natural expressions and genuine moments.

"My puppy and I had the most wonderful time with Katie in her cosy studio! She captured the most beautiful and hilarious photographs that we will treasure forever. Thank you so much!"

What Your Pet Photography Session Includes
• A relaxed studio session tailored to your pet
• Time for them to settle and explore
• Gentle guidance to capture natural expressions
• A balanced mix of posed and candid portraits
Around 7–10 days after your session, you’ll be invited back to the studio for your viewing appointment. Your fully edited images are presented on a large 4K screen, giving you space to choose your favourites without pressure.
My studio is located next to Portbury Wharf Nature Reserve in Portishead, which makes it ideal if you’d like to include some outdoor portraits as well.
There’s plenty of room for dogs to run, and outdoor sessions work beautifully for more natural, relaxed images. You’re very welcome to be included too.
Digital images and professionally printed artwork are available to purchase. I keep options simple and focused on quality, so choosing your final photographs feels straightforward rather than overwhelming.
A booking fee secures your session, with full details provided at the time of enquiry.
If you’re worried your pet won’t sit still, won’t look at the camera or has a mind of their own, that’s completely normal. They don’t need to behave perfectly. Some of the best photographs happen in between the “posed” moments.
Patience, experience and understanding animals matter just as much as the camera.

Pet Photography FAQs
What if my dog won’t sit still?
That’s completely normal. I don’t expect pets to behave perfectly. Sessions are designed to work with their personality and energy, whether that’s playful, curious or calm.
Do you photograph puppies?
Yes. Puppies are very welcome. We simply allow a little extra time for breaks and short attention spans.
Can I bring treats or toys?
Absolutely. Bringing a favourite toy or high-value treats can really help keep your pet engaged and relaxed.
Is the studio safe for pets?
Yes. The studio is fully enclosed and set up with animals in mind. Safety and comfort are always the priority.
Can you photograph reactive or anxious dogs?
Yes, as long as I’m aware in advance. We can plan the session carefully, allow extra time and ensure the environment feels calm and controlled.
What other animals do you photograph?
Dogs are the most common, but I’m happy to photograph cats and other small pets too. If you’re unsure whether your pet would suit a studio session, just get in touch and we’ll talk it through.
Can we include the whole family?
Yes. You’re very welcome to join your pet for part of the session, whether that’s a couple of simple portraits or something more relaxed outdoors.
How long does a pet photography session last?
Most sessions last around 1-2 hours, but I allow flexibility depending on your pet’s needs. There’s no rushing.
When is the best time to book a pet session?
There’s no strict season, but if your pet is getting older or has a milestone coming up, it’s always worth booking sooner rather than later.
What happens if my pet really doesn’t settle?
We take breaks, reset and adapt. In the rare case a session genuinely isn’t working, we can reschedule and try again.
