When Macey contacted me asking if I could do an awkward style family photoshoot with her cat and dog as a surprise for her boyfriend, I was all over it! I have always wanted to do a photoshoot like this, so I was totally looking forward to it.

If you have ever seen the website https://awkwardfamilyphotos.com/ you will know what I am talking about. Cheesy posing, awful clothes, and pets included.

With the incredible abilities of AI now and the updates on Adobe Photoshop Generative Fill, I knew we could do something fun with clothing too.

Macey and Kevin were great sports for the shoot and tried to hold straight faces for the photos but sometimes it wasn't possible as a lot of fun!

Behind the scenes

Macey and Kevin just had regular clothing on. Black tshirt and white tshirt, but I wanted to change these into something a little more "awkward" so decided to have a play with Generative Fill. My prompts for all the clothing was "1980s colourful patterned clothing"

Before and afters

I absolutely LOVE how these turned out, and there are so many options to make fun photos with ai now.

This is my favourite awkward family photo of them all!

I recently also did another 80s shoot which was also so much fun:
